Yesterday (3/28) the telecommuting seminor was held by Nagoya-city and Joinas-Nagoya. I was a lecturer of this theme.

I talked about (i) What is "telecommuting?" (ii) Suitability of teleccomuting (iii) Preparing for telecommuting (iv) Trouble examples and solutions, etc. It was 2 days until the participant became full of 50 capacity, in spite of the morning of Saturday.

I have once experienced the same seminor by Aichi Pref. and Association of public welfare. The interest about telecommuting seems to be higher.

I myself work with a form of telecommuting. I introduced the participant a lot of example how I had been troubled in fact. Then I told them 2 points of difficult problem about telecommuting.

1. Communication

First, the problem is communication with the customer. We usually use e-mail for telecommuting. But e-mail (using only e-mail) is more difficult than using telephone. And meeting is easier than telephone to communicate. So the telecommuting, without meeting is difficult to communicate and we must work on the basis of the fact. I think the telecommuting cannot be done like a "side business", with ease.

The memorandams on notebooks is useful to communicate smoothly. They prevent from discussing like "I said" or "No I don't say!" I use the notebooks sold commonly in a shop and everyday I bring them.

2. Health Care

Another problem about telecommuting and SOHO work is "Health Care."

I once have suffered from influenza in 2005. I troubled customers ans my family at that time.

Some of appointment had to be changed. And I cannot do my business about 20 days!

Now I take care of my healthcare (especially flu), never to bring such a situation. While moving on the train and bus on winter or the season spreading flu, I attach a musk. And more, after getting off the train I wash my hands and I do gargle. Sometimes I wash my face. This is privilege of male who is no makeup.

Recently companys prefer to outsource cheaper cost. It is as usual to order easy work to the companys outside Japan. So we cannot easily get the work of high income at home.

I don't know some of the participant would do the telecommuting. Anyway, I recommend to have the eyes whether the work is good or not. I want them to grab their customer with CS. I think we can make the firm basis of our business by word of mouse and by someone's reccomendation that are effective in Nagoya.
